After enjoying fall activities in the cool air, there's nothing better than a hearty bowl of soup.
If you don't want to make a pot, stop by one of the following restaurants where the cooks offer several varieties:
U.S.S. Chowder III
When Jonathon Smith needed to find another source of income during the 1977 Armstrong Rubber Tire strike, U.S.S. Chowder was born. It quickly became popular and more locations opened including in nearby Hartford. The restaurant is known for its friendly service and laid-back atmosphere, and for the last seventeen years, it has won several awards from Connecticut Magazine. Guests can enjoy an array of menu options including French onion soup au gratin, New England clam chowder, and lobster bisque.
Potbelly Sandwich Works
Believe it or not, Potbelly Sandwich Works began in an antique store in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood. The owners decided to boost business by serving sandwiches, and their creations were so popular, that lines soon reached to the corner. In 1996, they sold the shop, and the new owner opened locations across the country. The broccoli cheddar soup is available daily, while choices such as chicken enchilada, homestyle chicken noodle, and classic tomato rotate throughout the week.
This restaurant began in Newport Beach, California in 1998. It offers a casual, yet elegant atmosphere with candles and white cloths on the tables, as well as attentive service. In addition to juicy steaks, the chefs also create a delicious pot of French onion soup.
