According to their mission statement, "the Connecticut Science Center is dedicated to inspiring lifelong learning through interactive and innovative experiences that explore our changing world through science". Since their public opening in 2009, they have not failed to live up to that purpose. There's much to see and do, all in the name of science. While the Center does have some temporary exhibits, their permanent exhibits are educational for all ages.
Forces in Motion This exhibit helps you to understand how forces in motion stay in motion, and how outside forces affect them. You'll put into practice what you learn as you compete to keep your design in motion longer. You can design a car and test its speed. Harness the power of the wind and guide a beach ball in the air and through a hoop. See how wind affects sailboats, and much more.
Picture of Health Want to really know how your choices affect your health? This is the exhibit for you. Not only does it help you understand how your current choices are affecting your overall health, it explains the role genetics play in making some things unchangeable. You'll get to see how muscles and joints work and how movements and stress affect them.
Exploring Space In this eye-opening exhibit, you relax in a space pod and travel through space. As you look at the screen, you'll experience the awe of the moon, stars, and other planets. You'll get a chance to look back at the earth and see how the weather looks from space.
The Center is closed on Mondays. Every other day of the week, they're open from 10AM to 5PM. General admission is $21.95 for adults ages 18-64, $19.95 for seniors 65 and up, and $14.95 for youth ages 3-17.
