Summer is a great time to pick up a new hobby or work on improving one you already enjoy. Here are a few new hobbies to pick up at your local library this summer!
Most people believe camp is for kids, right? Not at the library in Rocky Hill! Members of Montage | Rocky Hill community can join in on the fun at the Crafters Camp for Adults! Participants will enjoy exercising some creative freedom, meeting new people, and learning new skills. The camp officially starts on July 6th and runs for a total of 4 weeks. Participants can either register for the whole summer or choose individual weeks with designated topics to attend. Be sure to sign up early as registration is required and each week is limited to 20 crafters. Learn to create several types of artwork, such as folded book art, painted coasters, or the popular new trend of coffee mugs decorated with sharpies.
Another camp option is to learn about the benefits of yoga and meditation in the peaceful library environment! Isha Yoga for beginners is offered one Saturday every month and Isha Mediation is offered one Tuesday a month. You'll learn the foundations of meditation and yoga, as well as how to establish your own practice as you build with different poses, breath, and meditation techniques.
Finally, fans of cooking will enjoy the Indian Cooking With Madhu Gupta sessions. You'll receive a presentation on the history of India, as well as an overview of traditional Indian food and spices. Attendees will learn how to make an Indian salad and curry through demonstrations. Next comes the best part! Be sure to bring your appetite because everyone will get a chance to sample the meal, as well as enjoy a delicious dessert!
